A Solution for Bilateral Negotiations in the Navy Detailing Process for the Navy Detailing Process, Cognitive Agents Technology Project

We provide an integrative solution for negotiations in the Navy detailing process considering the uncertain and dynamic outside options. The outside options influence the negotiation strategies via the impact on the reservation prices. The solution is composed of three modular models: single-threaded negotiations, synchronized multithreaded negotiations, and dynamic multi-threaded negotiations....

Cross-Cultural Time Sensitivity in a Bilateral E-Negotiation System

For a long time, culture has been an influencing parameter in negotiations. Growth of international trades and business competitions has increased the importance of negotiations among countries and different cultures. Developing new technologies, particularly the use of artificial intelligence in electronic trading areas, has provided us with the application of intelligent agents to resolve cha...

Genetic-aided multi-issue bilateral bargaining for complex utility functions

In this paper, a non-mediated multi-issue bilateral bargaining model for complex utility functions is presented. Before the negotiation process, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to sample one’s own utility function. During the negotiation process, genetic operators are applied over the opponent’s and one’s own proposals in order to sample new proposals that are interesting for both parties.

Optimal Strategies for Agents in an Alternating Offers Negotiation Protocol Considering Time Constraint

This paper analyzes the automated negotiation process between two competitive agents in an alternating offers negotiation model. Generally speaking, the outcome of a negotiation depends on some parameters—the agents’ reservation prices, their attitude toward time and the strategies they use, etc. In most realistic situations, it is not possible for agents to have complete information about all ...

Qualitative Decision under Uncertainty: Back to Expected Utility

Negotiation scenarios involving nonlinear utility functions are specially challenging, because traditional negotiation mechanisms cannot be applied. Even mechanisms designed and proven useful for nonlinear utility spaces may fail if the utility space is highly nonlinear. For example, although both contract sampling and constraint sampling have been successfully used in auction based negotiation...
